about Josephine
CEO and mother, Josephine Chaus understands the
modern woman’s lifestyle – she’s been living it for the
past 26 years. For the first time in the company’s
history, she is stepping out from behind the scenes and
into the public eye as the face of the clothing company
Bernard Chaus, Inc. “I’m passionate about what I do,”
Josephine said. “I absolutely live and dress this
lifestyle.” It is with this passion and understanding
that Josephine hopes to make the lives of working women
a little easier – a lot more stylish.
In 1975, Josephine Chaus and her husband, Bernard
founded Bernard Chaus, Inc. The company specialized in
creating clothing for the career woman that combined
elegance and comfort. With Bernard as CEO and Josephine
assuming the role of company president in 1980, Bernard
Chaus, Inc. grew in recognition and revenue. The company
went public in 1986.
Josephine’s business savvy coupled with a deep
connection to what women wanted, profited the company.
Capitalizing on the success that her leadership brought,
Josephine instituted a major branding change. In 2000,
she added her own first name to the company, calling it
Josephine Chaus – adding warmth and identity; inviting
consumers to connect. Under Josephine’s leadership the
company more than doubled it’s net income over the last
ten years. The company also acquired S.L. Danielle in
November 2002 and Cynthia Steffe in December 2003.
Today, Josephine Chaus is still at the helm of the
company. She continues to be the company’s passionate
driving force, ensuring that all of its goals become a
reality. A working mother of two, she understands the
needs and wants of her customers and looks forward to
continuing to address those needs in her business
strategies and fashion designs.
